July 4th Festivities Around Town

 

july 4 smThere are many events happening this 4th of July weekend, here are just a few.

  •  Thursday, July 3 from 9:30 until 10:00 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from Clontz Park, but will be visible throughout downtown Smithfield along the Pagan River.
  • Friday, July 4 from 9:30 until 10:00 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from Windsor High School.
  • Friday, July 4, 2014 from 5:30 until 9:30 p.m. at Constant’s Wharf Park/110 E Constance Road. Free. Enjoy the Stars and Stripes Spectacular as the skies of Suffolk light up with the firework show over the Nansemond River at Constants Wharf Park.  The park will open at 5:30 pm with entertainment, children’s activities, local merchandise vendors and food choices available.  The firework show will begin at 9:00 pm for the whole family to enjoy.
  • Friday, July 4 at 8:00 p.m. on the lawn of the Smithfield Times, 228 Main Street, Smithfield. Free. The 195th Army Band located in Bangor, Maine will perform a USO-type show featuring their concert and jazz bands, rock band, and small ensemble and vocalists. Music will be a variety of Patriotic and popular tunes. Smithfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post will serve a 4th of July “Birthday” cake at the concert to concert goers in celebration of the day.
  • Friday July 4 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Victory Landing Park in Newport News. Free. Enjoy spectacular views of the James River and dinner hot off a food vendor’s grill. Then sit back and relax with a concert by a nationally-known entertainer. As the music ends, the sky over the James River explodes into kaleidoscope of color in a spectacular fireworks show.
